 The design for this 2023 North Sea Jazz Festival poster, had me travel through time in my research. Bringing together the classic elements of the genre with the modern ethos of the event resulted in a vibrant statement.

Inspired by the vibrancy and rhythm of posters such as Nina Brook’s True Blue album and Freddie Hubbard’s The Night Of The Cookers - Live At Club La Marchal album, this poster is a fusion of the festival’s identity and jazz while also making an eye-catching visual collectable item.


My design was among 14 selected for exhibition at the 2023 edition of the festival.














ABOUT NSJ


The NN North Sea Jazz Festival has been showcasing the best of jazz since 1976. Now, in 2024 it is the biggest indoor festival in the world.

Each year 14 poster designs are selected for exhibition at the venue. In order to pay homage to the history of jazz as well as festival’s identity, which includes guests from outside the genre (Snoop Dogg, Sting, Lizzo, Stormzy), the poster must innovate on the traditional imagery of the jazz genre.
